The problem
The homeowner called with a leak over the bathroom. The house is a single-story ranch with a pitched shingle roof and two flatter sections, and the shingles were 11 to 15 years old by the homeowner's estimate. Up top: an old metal ridge vent and worn shingles.
What we did
Everything came off down to the deck. Rotten plywood was cut out and replaced (the agreement covered up to 10 sheets). Ice and water shield went down as the underlayment.
The pitched part got 23 squares of TAMKO Titan XT in Thunderstorm Gray. The two low-slope sections got 5 squares of gray modified bitumen, because shingles don't belong on a roof that flat. New white drip edge, three new pipe boots, two goosenecks, a new ridge vent, and two new 14-inch solar tubes in place of the old ones.

The result
The drone shots from tear-off day show both systems going on at once: modified bitumen on the flat parts while the crew decked and dried in the rest. Finished, it's one gray roof with the low-slope sections sealed instead of shingled.
